$20 to Build a Water Well in Monrovia Liberia

During the month of December, Walk For A Child is raising money on behalf of our partner organization Four Hunger to build a water well in the West Point community in Monrovia, Liberia.

Four Hunger founder, Windell S. King grew up in the community of West Point and aims to create access to clean water allowing for the men, women, and children to continue to grow and live healthy lives. Four Hunger has managed to build 20 water wells and plans to move forward with a goal of 28 in the West Point community.

In January of 2024, Walk For A Child ran its third program walking 180 miles on foot from Monrovia, Liberia to Bo, Sierra Leone. During this walk our team offered space for conversation in each community we visited allowing our team to listen and learn about issues directly impacting the members of those communities. Prior to the walk that began in Monrovia our team had an opportunity to meet the Founder of Four Hunger, Windell King, and hear about the impact the organization has made within the community of West Point.

Walk For A Child is a project of the Sierra Leone Foundation for New Democracy (SLFND), built on the following vision: SLFND works in partnership with communities to build the foundation for citizens of all ages to deliberate and enact new, non-adversarial alternatives that nurture democratic relationships and decision making among and across individuals, families, institutions, and the environment.

The shared goal is to empower men, women, and children to see the power and strength from within their community, inspiring them to reduce dependency from external aid.

The monies raised from this fundraiser will go directly to the founder of Four Hunger to be used for the installation of the 21st water well in West Point, Monrovia, Liberia. Additional funds raised above the amount needed for the water well will go to support the next Walk For A Child Program in 2026 - including transportation, food, and shelter for the participants during the Walk.

Fundraiser Goal: $2,500

The goal of the fundraiser is to support the work of Four Hunger, as well as the programming of Walk For A Child (WFAC) and Sierra Leone Foundation For New Democracy (SLFND).

The cost to build the water well with Four Hunger is $1,800

Any additional funds raised beyond that will go directly to support the projects and programs of WFAC and SLFND.
