2 Half Marathon’s for St Luke’s. Remembering Stephen Frith

I will never forget the Christmas of 2015, when my dad was laid in his bed that morning and was awoken by Father Christmas. One of the volunteers had come in dressed head to toe as Father Christmas, giving each patient the biggest hamper of toiletries and goodies you could imagine. The kindness and generosity of volunteers made my dads last Christmas and allowed us to find peace. For many years now I have wanted to give something back, as a thank you, as a way of saying “you might not be the NHS, but your service is above and beyond any national health institute”.

For those of you who know me, you will know that at the end of 2015 my families life was flipped upside down. After many months of numerous tests and investigations my dad (Stephen Frith), was informed he had terminal cancer and was given the horrendous news of only having months to live. During this emotional and life changing period, both my dad and the wider family found great comfort and support from the staff and facility that St Luke’s hospice offered. Not only did they make sure my dad had EVERYTHING he needed, but they also ran support groups for family members in order to come to terms with the situation they were facing.

This is why on the 23rd of March I will be running the Sheffield half marathon, one of two half marathon to raise money for St Luke’s. On the 11th of May I will then be joined by some of me gym clients to to run the Leeds Half Marathon

Do you want to join Me and my gym clients in making a difference?

If so, would you kindly donate (any amount is welcomed).

I know times are hard at the minute but a donation of £1 can go along way when we all pull together

£5 - can provide a balanced hot meal

£12 - helps fund the 24/7 helpline to support patients and families through difficult times

£35 - helps fund physiotherapy treatments that help patients with breathing, movement and pain

£70 - help fund a vital home visit to help keep a patient at home and independent for as long as possible

Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to Me

Luke
