2 Family Tipi's for Standing Rock
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Blaine and I am a nurse from Southern California. I recently returned from Oceti Sakowin (big camp) near the Standing Rock reservation in North Dakota, where I was immersed in the reality that is unfolding up there. Amidst all the action and excitement, there is an awareness of the coming winter who has already delayed it's onset (thank you Creator), and winterizing the camp and providing shelters for those who are staying the winter is of utmost importance. I have personally devoted myself to providing 2 Tipi's for the camps that will go to house some of the bodies who, in addition to praying and protecting the water, are doing a great deal of service for the camp (e.g., build crew, kitchen, healers), and in turn for us all.
While I was up at Standing Rock, I met so many amazingly passionate and skilled individuals, including a man named Andrew who is a Tipi maker and a beautifully helpful soul. He has offered to make the Tipi's onsite for us if we can bring him the canvas and poles for it. Following his direction, I contacted Nomadic Tipi Makers in Bend, Oregon and they were willing to assist in bringing this to fruition by providing the canvas at a discounted price (Thank you!). Soon after this I was led to a number of interactions where the need for certain supplies was illuminated. I spoke with one elder in particular, the head cook at Grandma's kitchen in Oceti Sakowin, and she expressed her need for a tipi liner, as the tarp she was using was not working in the increasingly cold weather. After this interaction I knew that all the money I had in my posession was going into providing shelters for these amazing souls, and it dawned on me a few hours later during my drive to CA that I would put the energy in to creating a gofundme for these works. I used to try to do it all myself, but I realize now, more than ever, that we are all in this together and that we all need eachother.A flatbed trailer has already been donated to this cause (Thank you Cody), we are timing this just 2 days before the cutoff date for harvesting poles, and it seems that Spirit is going to see this through just in time! I cannot begin to express how much this means to me... I recently quit my job and have devoted myself totally toward actions that will heal the societal sickness that we are becoming more aware of with each passing day, and I see that what is happening in North Dakota is a symptom and symbol of the underlying sickness in America. I pray that good things happen for all people, everywhere. And I pray that the water is protected and remains clean for the future generations to enjoy and cherish. Aho! Mitakuye Oyasin!
