Support St. John’s CECE Teachers And Staff!

Hello CECE Parents and Community Members, My name is Satasha Torres. I am a CECE mom and a part of The CECE Parent Committee. Like many of you, St. John’s is a second home for our children. It is unfortunate that their school year has been cut short due to the impact The Coronavirus has on Northern Virginia, but speaking on behalf of the committee and many others in our school I feel we are proud that our director has chosen to join responsible businesses early on in attempts to flatten the curve and keep our children, their family members, faculty and staff safe. I am also proud of their decision to reimburse families their deposit and any April tuition already paid for. This will allow many families the opportunity to use those funds in other ways. This situation is unprecedented. No one could have ever expected that are community, as strong as it may be, would be hit this hard. So from the bottom of our hearts we would like to thank CECE for their timely response. As many of you know our teachers have, like many others in the community, lost their job. Because the church is non-exempt staff members can not participate in any unemployment program offered by the state. CECE has tapped into their resources to provide pay for their staff through April, but are unable to fund May salaries. The CECE Parent’s Committee has launched this campaign to raise funds in order to pay 20 staff members for the first two weeks of May. For those who have generously given their deposits it is greatly appreciated. If you were unable to donate your deposit and would like to give a different amount here is the place to do so! A simple share would also be amazing. In addition, The CECE Parent’s Committee will be launching a Facebook page where we can keep in touch, swap in home learning lessons, share academic links etc. The teacher’s will also be joining us on Facebook posting links, sharing lessons and to top it off doing live interactive Zoom sessions with their classes. We are hoping this message finds you in a good place and motivates you and your family through this tough time.
