Let's Help Mr. Slater After Fire Left Him Homeless

This burnt out shell is sadly, all that remains of our elderly neighbours home, which caught fire last weekend. Please help us to help put a home around him again. Let's show our friend/neighbour what community & kindness can do in his time of need ❤️ Mr. Slater, 81, from Lynwood Park, Limerick, Ireland, a much loved & respected member of our community, lived alone with his furry companion, Pepper after his beloved wife Gina, sadly passed away 2 years ago. During the early hours of 8th February 2020 at around 2.40am approx, a major fire started at Mr. Slaters home, while he & his dog lay sleeping upstairs. It was only for the quick actions of other young residents living in the area who noticed the smoke/flames & ran over there, who saved Mr. Slater & his dogs lives. As the fire ravaged through his home, Mr. Slater was helped to safety via the garage door.  His dog ran off terrified but was rescued by neighbours some time later & reunited with his traumatized owner. Mr. Slater narrowly escaped with his life that night, & fled his burning home wearing only what he wore to bed. He stood there barefooted, distraught & shaking, comforted by neighbours, as he watched in horror, everything he owned, going up in flames. All his memories, his sentiments. His photographs of his beloved wife & family. His trophies. His boat that he spent years building in his earlier years. His entire home was destroyed. Everything gone in just a matter of minutes. It could happen to any of us. The whole block had to be evacuated as the fire raged and emergency services from two towns fought for hours, to bring the fire under control. It was terrifying to watch. Thank God, no one was hurt.  Mr. Slaters home burnt down on what would be his beloved wife's second year anniversary. This is just even more heartbreaking.
