There are very few people that have made such an impact on the young men in our community and the sport of wrestling than that of Coach Wayne Terry. For nearly 40 years he has taught and mentored young men in core values and true character building. Across multiple generations Wayne’s message of patriotism, respect, hard work, dedication and sportsmanship is all taught through his love and passion for the sport of wrestling. Through this he has helped to mold and developing thousands of our community’s young men. Too often we wait until someone passes away before we honor them in this way. Let’s not wait in this case!! It is time he is honored for his dedication, positive impact on our the youth of our community and to the sport of wrestling not just in ML but through out the state of WA. Honoring him with a permanent American Flag being placed in his honor in the MLHS wrestling room and a bronze plaque placed outside the door to tell all future wrestlers just what an impact Coach Wayne has made on those that came before them. Sharing his message of “if no one has told you today they love you, I want you to know Coach Wayne loves you.” Keeping this all a secret from Wayne will be nearly impossible but would ask you to please do your part to limit the amount of knowledge he has to this effort and project. Those that wish to share stories, letters, and pictures of how Wayne has impacted you or your family are certainly encouraged to do so.
