Alexis Road To Recovery

Hi everyone, My name is Neycha I am doing this GoFund me on behalf of my sister. This is Alexis, my nephew. He is only 9 years old. On Tuesday, January 14th Alexis went to bed like every other night. Around 8:30pm his father went to check up on him and found him convulsing and having a seizure. When the ambulance arrived he was unresponsive and had a high amount of CO2 in his body. His seizures were continuous and his doctors did not know what provoked it. He had been sick for the 2 days prior with what seemed like flu symptoms and an ear infection. The doctors decided to sedate him to try and control his seizures. Once his brain activity were stable enough the doctors ran a number of tests including MRI scans, CAT Scans and spinal tap. They ruled out the flu and upon receiving the results they noticed he had a virus on his nervous system that led to his brain. They immediately started him with antibiotics and kept him sedated to minimize the strain on his brain and on a breathing tube. The following day the doctors ran more tests and they noticed his infection went away due to the antibiotics. His test results came back for the other tests they ran and his seizures stopped while he was sedated. Currently he is still experiencing small seizure like activity in his brain and his sedation medication wore off but he is not waking up. The doctors still don’t know what caused his seizures and are currently still trying to figure out how to stop the abnormal brain wave patterns he is experiencing. He will be in the hospital until they can figure out what is causing the seizures and how to stop them. We are waiting for his seizures to stop and for our Alexis to wake up on his own. We miss out sweet, funny and caring boy. He is so caring and has such an amazing spirit. I am doing this campaign to help my sister and my brother in law during this trying time. They are both not working and are going through financial hardship. This is to help with childcare for their one year old, transportation and all the medical bills.
