Hamilton SDA Pantry Community Meal. Reducing Waste
Hamilton SDA pantry is a not for profit initiative that provides a free weekly community meal and low cost groceries. Approximately 50 families/individuals are supplied with groceries and up to 100 meals served weekly. Every thursday there is a buzz in the air as lonely elderly, homeless, struggling families and those under the burden of mental health issues come together and share a healthy vegetarian meal. Currently disposible plastic plates, bowls, cutlery and cups are used. There is a huge need for a commercial grade under counter dishwasher. It would be able to wash a large amount of dishes in a reasonable amount of time. It would give some dignity to the struggling community members by not eating off plastic plates but at the same time reducing an incredible amount of waste going to landfill. The pantry team, volunteers and community guests would really appreciate any donation towards this worthy cause.
