We are the 1st Sawley Scout Group, based in Derbyshire, and have been running for over 80 years. Our success is reflected in the size of our Group (120 Young People), we are one of the largest in our District. The skills, adventure and opportunities offered to young people through Scouting can never be underestimated.

Our building is used every night (except Saturdays!) We have 2 Beaver Colonies, 2 Cub Packs, 2 Scout Troops and an Explorer Unit, who all meet here. Weekdays we have various groups use the building and is often hired out for parties.

Our current building is 50 years old and although in the past, we have had the roof and windows replaced, and other major refurbishments, the fabric of the building itself is now rotting and crumbling and is beyond economic repair and it needs to be replaced.

Phase 1 of our ‘New Build’ Project , to put in the foundations, has already started and they will be finished before the end of February '26.

Phase 2 . Back in 2024, we successfully secured a new 25 year lease for the land from the local council, but we now have the opportunity to purchase the land outright, and secure it for generations to come. This is an amazing opportunity for the Sawley community..

but now for the hard part…Funding!!! When we're not at work, we have been working hard, running local/small events to raise funds but we now need your help to raise £42k that will buy the land and guarantee it from redevelopment; securing it for the local community, for this generation and generations to come.

Ultimately, Phases 3 and 4 is to build and equip a new community space that will have facilities open to the local community/businesses/interest groups, as we have done in the past, and make it a real ‘community hub’.
