Celebration for a Surprise Baby Willow

Donation protected
Team Willow is raising money to hold a Baby Shower Celebration for baby Willow Apollonia Sousa. Her parents, Allie Clark and Kyle Sousa became unexpected parents overnight without warning or time to prepare items for a nursery. We would like the throw a shower worthy of this miracle that will provide an avenue for the new family to introduce their new baby daughter as well as receive necessary baby items.

PLEASE READ this incredibly emotional story written by the Mother:

"The experiences Kyle Sousa and I have endured over the last couple of weeks were absolutely terrifying yet resulted in an absolute miracle that you will learn more about if you choose to read this whole entire thing. Be prepared, and we hope you are sitting down, because you will be almost as shocked as we were when this conspired in real-time.

About a month ago, I was noticing some major changes to my body that happened so quickly in a short period of time. I have always averaged out at a lower weight of 120 pounds due to my small stature, and for once I was exceeding that, except only in my stomach and nowhere else. Yes pregnancy was a possible thought, but due to having an IUD placed, I was doubtful that I could be in that 2% range of becoming pregnant on it. I was still getting regular periods (or so I thought was a period) every month.

Over a week ago on Monday the pain in my stomach became very prominent and Kyle and I rushed to Planned Parenthood to assess my situation, only to be turned away due to overload of appts. I was told to go to Urgent Care or call to make a future appointment, even though I explained it was an emergency and I thought something could be seriously wrong with me. “If I am pregnant” I thought, I couldn’t possibly be exceeding 8 weeks based on my physical appearance and the lack of typical symptoms. Boy, was I very wrong.

Refusing to go to an Urgent Care, Kyle and I planned to take an at home test and if confirmed, I would make the closest appointment to have an ultrasound done at Women and Infants early options clinic, not caring at this point if I had to pay a massive bill. Sure enough, those two little lines appeared within the first five seconds. We made the appointment and considered all options necessary.

WELL, as you can see I did not make this appointment due to the fact that early Wednesday morning I was experiencing cramping, yet I decided calling out of work was out of the question. I endured an 8-hour shift of clients, doing hair on my feet all day, trying to see if the pain would subside but it did not, it only became worse. I left work, went home, and made the journey to the hospital at about 8:30 at night convinced I was having an early miscarriage. Again, boy was I very wrong.

But the time I was admitted and taken into triage at Women and Infants, my extremely amazing nurses had done a pelvic exam, not convinced I was far along, but then looked at me in disbelief before informing me very calmly that instead of miscarrying, I was actually in full labor with a 37 week gestated child that had been contorted up in my rib cage, unable to kick or show signs of existence. I immediately went into shock, fight or flight mode, and before you know it, by 1:01 am Thursday, October 24th I became a mother to the most beautiful being I have ever laid eyes on. A perfectly healthy little girl; 6 pounds, 14 ounces; who had tilted my uterus up into my ribs, protecting herself from the birth control that caused me extreme complications.

But she is here, she has rocked our world, and turned it completely upside down in the best way possible. Due to the traumatic endearment of this whole situation, Kyle and I kept things very under wraps the past week considering the mental and physical strain that this anomaly of a situation had put us through. But now that we have settled down and told our family and close friends what happened, we found it’s the right time to announce to the world why we haven’t answered or haven’t been around to reply to your texts and calls of concern.

We appreciate the love and support we received on such short notice from everyone involved in helping us prepare the baby room in a matter of 24 hours. ALSO a huge thank you to her auntie Mckenzie Leek (Mckenzie Leek Photo https://www.mckenzieleekphotography.com/) for providing us with this gorgeous and intimate family shoot today on such short notice for this announcement. And lastly, an enormous thank you to the amazing staff of doctors and nurses at Women And Infants Hospital who kept Kyle and I as calm as we possibly could be during the unexpected birth of our perfectly healthy baby girl and making sure she and I got out of it completely safe and sound.
