Kits For Kids 2019

Hi. I’m Astrid. I founded Kits for Kids in 2016, when I was nine, and raised £1,350 to Fund Christmas presents for children in temporary accommodation hostels.

The reason I started this campaign was because I found out just how many children in the UK are actually in a situation of homelessness or temporary accommodation. This year, over 130,000 kids - kids no different than me - will not have a home for Christmas. On top of this, 4 million kids in the UK live in poverty. 

I am currently 12 years old and am raising money for these children for the third time, now. I might not be able to change the terrible statistics, but I can try to make sure as many kids as possible at least have a nice proper gift to open this Christmas. So, this year, we are trying to reach our biggest goal yet and aiming for £5,000 to fund 250 festive gifts for 250 children, from ages as young as 0 to as old as 16 years, who are living in temporary accommodation. I'm working with two family projects to reach the kids and make sure all the presents end up the right places where the need is biggest. We are going to buy all the gifts in November and my friends from my old school will help wrap everything.
