Our wonderful neighbour Ernie is always helping out. He smooths the potholes out with his grader & uses his log splitter for helping campers with their fire wood. He is a wonderful part of our community. Last summer Ernie had a terrible case of gangrene and to save his life his leg had to be amputated. The whole community got together & fixed up his home with a wider door & a ramp for getting up onto his bigger porch. I found a used leg on line & presented it to Ernie for later use once he healed up. He took it with him to see his therapist & was told that there was no way that he was allowed to use it. "It's a liability matter". He argued blue in the face but they will not refit it for him. We can donate them to a third world country for their people but not in Canada, (or the USA for that matter.) Ernie lives on a very limited pension and needs at least $2000. to pay for the prosthesis that will give him his old life back again. He was at the therapist this past week & was told to come back next year when he gets the money. Please find it in your heat to donate even a small amount to this fund to help Ernie walk again.
