Do It For The Duffys

Due to the harsh U.K. immigration policies, Tony and I have to apply for a FOURTH visa. Despite Tony making over the required amount of money, the Home Office has denied my last application due to the fact that Tony is self employed, so they claim all his earnings do not count. We have tried everything to avoid applying for another visa as the cost for an application is over £3,000 (~$3,880) but we have been knocked down at every turn. The Home Office denied our appeal and countless letters to the Home Secretary, Sajid Javid, have been responded to with heartless and insensitive replies. The Home Office claims that Tony’s mental health isn’t serious (even after being provided with doctor’s letters and evaluations) and that we can care for his mother from another country. They believe Tony should move his business to the US despite plastering being a trade that is not widely practiced in the US and they’ve also claimed that Tony doesn’t work hard enough to support me. A married couple should not be forced to live 3,000 miles apart. Families should never be ripped apart so heartlessly and your human right to a family life should not be determined by your income. Love does not have a price, but unfortunately, according to the UK Home Office that price is £18,600/year but rises if you are self employed. If almost half of the UK working population do not meet this income threshold, it is clear that this policy is discriminatory and needs to be scrapped. Please donate any amount that you can or simply share this fundraiser if you aren’t able to donate. We have been struggling recently and just want to live a happy life together as a married couple. We will continue to fight against these inhumane policies and continue to fight to be together again. I know that we have already asked for donations and we are grateful to all of those who have donated before. It is unfortunate that the UK Home Office has rejected our last visa and appeal despite our lawyer firmly believing that the Home Office has made an error in law. They also recently doubled the health surcharge from £500 to £1,000 which needs to be paid before you can submit your application. Any little bit helps us and we will be eternally grateful for the help as we are proud people and it takes a lot to ask for this kind of help. Thank you.
