Help Cherub Improv Perform Community Service!
Cherub Improv is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that, for over 5 years, has trained over 150 volunteer performers and provided over 500 FREE improv comedy shows and educational workshops to senior citizens, veterans, men, women, and children living with cancer, rehab patients, homeless, AIDS patients, runaway teens, and others. We have provided such events for Big Brothers Big Sisters, the American Cancer Society, Ronald McDonald House, Girl Scouts, Gilda's Club, the Phoenix House, and over 40 other organizations throughout NYC, NJ, Westchester, Long Island, and PA.
In addition to the well documented healing power of laughter, improv workshops help increase confidence, unleash creativity, foster teamwork, improve listening skills and memory, and teach adults and children of all ages the importance of supporting each other.
Despite the recent extreme weather, our volunteers performed
shows this past week for senior citizens at the Y in Washington Heights/Inwood
and at the Lott Residence on the Upper East Side, provided a children's
workshop at Ronald McDonald House, and volunteered at a temporary shelter by
providing improv workshops for families displaced by Hurricane Sandy.
The funds raised here will be used to: (1) help us engage a part-time
executive director; (2) expand our recruiting and training programs for civic
minded performers; (3) implement bi-lingual improv events (Spanish/English and
Chinese/English); (4) increase our travel budget; and (5) purchase video
conferencing equipment to provide shows and workshops to venues outside of the
greater NYC area.
Please help us continue to perform community service.
