1919 Longview Remembrance Project

Our vision is remembrance and reconciliation and respect for our city’s past; the merciful work of recognizing disparities in the way our city’s history has been celebrated; the loving work of exposing history that some have willfully forgotten.

We lament that the history of some African-Americans in our community has been overlooked. We recognize that to move forward together, we must confront our past and tell the truth about the history of our city. Our first step in doing that is placing a historical marker that recognizes the events that took place during the 1919 Race Riots in Longview, Texas.

In order to get the historical marker we have to move fast and we need your help! We have to raise $2500 by September 14th so that the marker can be possible. Your donation and sharing of this campaign will assist in reconciling the history of our city.
