Losing a loved one is life-altering and has a significant impact on the lives of those around them. With the right funding towards research and awareness, perhaps families in the future can be spared from the pain that we continue to endure.
On the 17th of May 2022, we lost our mum and wife, Hinemoa Murr, to pulmonary hypertension. As her sickness worsened, Mum required a lung transplant. Despite Mum’s strength and will to fight, doctors were unable to find suitable lungs for her in time. She passed away with each of us holding her tight. Our lives will never be the same without Mum and it is something that we have to live with every day for the rest of our lives. Because of this, we want to make sure that we keep on doing one of the many things that Mum was amazing at: helping others.
For the next month leading up to Mother's Day and Mum’s one year, my sister, Jessica, Dad and I are going to run, walk or swim 150km together to raise money for the Lungitude Foundation. The Lungitude Foundation is a registered Australian charity focused on funding and facilitating world-class translational research, advocating for lung transplant excellence, building a strong community of support, and educating key audiences. Any donation, whether it be $5 or $50, will make a significant difference in the lives of those individuals and families suffering.
