For our 27th birthday this September, my twin sister, Laura, and I have decided to run the Monterey Bay Half-marathon in November to raise money for Alzheimer's research.
This cause is personal for us. We're running for two loved ones in our family who are currently living with Alzheimer's. We've seen firsthand how this disease slowly takes so much—not just memories, but a person's entire sense of self. Running 13.1 miles is our way of honoring them and fighting for a future where no family has to endure this. With every step, we believe we are moving closer to better treatments and, one day, a cure.
We aren't asking for birthday gifts (or cake—okay, maybe a little cake!), but we are asking for your support. Whether it's a $5 donation or just a "go get 'em!", your encouragement would mean the world.
Let's help make some memories and fight for the ones that have been lost.
