She’s old, cold-selling lottery tickets to Aussie tourists flocking for a bus; tiny for six, her granddaughter is all about shoes, scurrying between legs to bag discarded plastic bottles. After hard work these workers will eat....
.... um, except now they're in lockdown like us.
Dirt poor street kids, elderly hawkers & factory hands are quarantined in lowest income areas of Saigon. Willing but unable to work & no income for food
- A distressing situation endured with dignity and let's help.
- Linking up with existing local volunteer networks Viet Sisters target 2000 of these poorest families - and deliver each dwelling emergency food of 1.2 kg of fresh chilled chicken !
- Aussies love Vietnamese food
In Vietnam food is at the heart of family. Though poor, she will find resources to make bone broth soup (Pho) or cook on charcoal. One thing is certain she will maximize that chicken for her kids.
Viet Sisters Volunteers believe in positive change !
- They way we bring positive change is by targeting the basic welfare & saftey needs of the most vulnerable women and children
The COVID Situation?
4660 areas in HCMC are in quarantine, one-third are the lowest income areas. Dwellings are cramped in very small streets inaccessible to cars. Here Covid could spread easily so soft lockdown for three months, and hard for the last month. Vaccination rollout is efficient.
Why Donate Fresh Chicken?
- Highest meat in protein. Plus minerals unlocked in bone broth ( 1)
- Zero food stockpiling to mess up the local economy. Must be consumed immediately (2)
- Cash donation raises food price locally & decreases child nutrition long term (2)
- Chickens paid for in cash assist local business liquidity (2)
- Poultry is lowest total global greenhouse gas emissions (3)
