On Sunday 15th November 2026 - Friends of Aodh Ruadh CLG and in particular Past Pupils of Ballyshannon Secondary Schools are undertaking an 11k Loop Walk from Fr. Tierney Park that incorporates the New Active Travel Walk / Cycle Route between Ballyshannon and Bundoran. With the permission of Donegal County Council this will be the first official organised walk on the new travel route. The Walk will begin at Fr. Tierney Park at 10am and proceed onto the Ballyshannon - Bundoran By-Pass (N15) via East Port Road. After 5km on the by-pass, walkers will turn right at the Drumacrin Roundabout over to the Finner Road Roundabout and return back via the new Active Travel Route alongside the R256 Finner Road to finish at Fr. Tierney Park and in the process complete the 11km Loop Walk from Fr. Tierney Park to Fr. Tierney Park.

There is a Shorter Route option, for joining on the final 5km, joining the Walkers at 11am at the Finner Roundabout and completing the final 5km along the new Active Travel Route back into Ballyshannon.
