Following my graduation from Oxford Brookes University in September 2025, I decided to take a gap year. Since November I’ve been working as a chalet host in Les Arcs and will be there until May. Before starting the season, I wanted to use some of my time to do something meaningful and give a little back, while also setting myself a personal challenge. So from the 9th to the 19th of May, my Dad and I will be walking a section of the South West Coast Path in Cornwall.
We’re raising money for Children’s Hospice South West, a charity that provides hospice care and support for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions, as well as their families. In November 2025, my Dad and I visited Charlton Farm in Wraxall near Bristol, one of their hospices. The visit was both enlightening and humbling, and it really brought home how important the work they do is. I’ve included some links if you’d like to read more about the charity and the support they provide.
The walk itself will cover around 111 miles over 11 days. We’ll start in the Isles of Scilly, then head to Penzance on Cornwall’s south coast, continuing via Land’s End and along the rugged north coast before finishing at Trevose Head, just west of Padstow.
We’re hoping to raise £1,500. To give an idea of the impact, £1,500 could pay for heat, light and power for a week in one of the hospices, so any donation, big or small, would mean a great deal. I’ll also be sharing updates along on Strava:
for anyone who’d like to follow our progress.
Thank you so much for your support.
