Buckley Mayor's 10-Mile Kayak Challenge

Hi, my name is Emma and I'm currently the Mayor of Buckley. For my Mayoral year, I will be fundraising for Nightingale House Hospice, Royal Buckley Town Band and Youth Shedz.

On 18th August, I will be embarking on a 10-mile kayak with friends, from Llangollen to Chirk to raise funds for my charities. This scenic but challenging route along the canal will include navigating two aqueducts and a tunnel.

Every paddle stroke will contribute to my charities causes.

Nightingale House Hospice is a charity close to my heart as they looked after a very good friend. Their vision is to provide excellent, personalised, and compassionate care for those living with a progressive and/or life limiting illness in our community and support for their families and loved ones. https://www.nightingalehouse.co.uk/

The Royal Buckley Town Band is a friendly community brass band based in Buckley, Flintshire, originally established in 1822. They need support to buy instruments for their junior band and renovating their building. https://royalbuckleytownband.co.uk/

Youth Shedz is a charity working with young people. Many young people experience Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE's), and without support and care, can make choices that lead to very dark places. Whether it is homelessness, substance misuse, relational conflict, or bullying, the Shed is a place where they can be listened to, challenged and motivated to make the most of their lives, and move on to a future without being defined by their past experiences. https://www.youthshedz.com/

This adventure is not just a personal challenge but a community effort to support causes that make a real difference. I invite everyone to join me in spirit on the day, spread the word, and contribute if you can. Together, we can paddle to support these deserving charities.
