10ks is a long PHing way

Three years ago our eldest daughter Zali was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension.

Pulmonary hypertension effects the arteries in the lungs and heart causing them to narrow resulting in shortness of breath, fatigue, chest pain and dizziness. Pulmonary hypertension has no cure often resultis in a lung transplant

Ever since Zali’s diagnosis we have been trying to come up with ideas on how to fundraise. We want to raise money and awareness for pulmonary hypertension. We hope with our whole being that one day there may be a cure. For this years event we have decided we will do a 10K run.

We have come up with the slogan 10k’s is a long PHing way.

People living with pulmonary hypertension don’t get a chance to live a normal life. They live a life full of constant challenges and face daily struggles.

We have decided to challenge ourselves and run 10ks for everyone living with PH. Please note we are not at all experienced runners, we are actually quite the opposite. We felt we needed to set our ourselves a huge goal and challenge ourselves for this fundraiser. Not that any of this would ever compare to the challenges faced by people living with PH. Every step we take on the run with be for all the PH warriors out there living with this awful disease.

This event will be happening in Townsville with the start of the race being down at Pallarenda and finishing the run off at Anzac park with the final leg running the beautiful strand in Townsville. The run will be taking place on Saturday the 7th of January 2023 starting at 6:00pm.

Every person that donates will have their name written on a purple and blue ribbon which are the colours that symbolise PH. These will be attached to the shirt of Amelia, Zali’s mum. On the run some of the runners will also be carrying a QR code for easy donations.

All money raised will go directly to the Australia and New Zealand Pulmonary Hypertension society limited. The money will help with research so that hopefully one day there will be a cure. Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause, it means so much to us all.
