Want to know more about us?
We are a small charity based in Seaford in East Sussex, and we offer services to improve and enhance the lives of children and young people with Down syndrome since 2013.
One of our staff’s testimonial sums up the benefits that our organisation brings to our young people.
"I was truly moved by the exceptional support provided by our staff members during the recent minibus trip to the bowling centre with our young people with Down syndrome. Their dedication and compassion created an atmosphere of warmth and understanding that resonated with both the participants and their families. Witnessing the staff member's unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and comfort of every child on the journey was heartwarming. They went above and beyond, meticulously arranging seating plans and sensory accommodations to make sure every detail was tailored to the unique needs of each child”
All contributions are going towards:
- Our outdoor and indoor activities: Forestry fun, sailing, basketball, indoor sports, assisted cycling, swimming, kayaking, equine assisted learning, bowling, cinema outings, paddle boarding, and more!
- Our Social & Learning Provision: Based at the heart of the University of Sussex. We centre on developing life skills including communication, social and financial skills which are essential for our young people to integrate their communities and navigate every day life. It provides our young people with the unique opportunity to integrate a sociable and dynamic university environment. We provide a supportive space for our young people to develop their life skills as well as engage in various enrichment activities that hugely improve their mental and physical well-being. At DSDT, our provision focuses on a bespoke approach to every young person to achieve their personal aims.
Thanks in advance for your contribution to our community, it means so much to us. We want to ensure all our young people receive the best possible opportunities to build their confidence and widen their horizons.
