A few weeks ago, one of my favourite people on this earth, unexpectedly passed away after a tragic car accident. Fortunately, after the crash, the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance arrived immediately, which provided her with blood, which was the reason she stayed alive and stable for the following few days. Their service gave me (and Jo, my dad, and John) the opportunity to tell grandma I loved her one last time, and be able to hear it back too, in the ICU before she passed that same night. That is something I will forever be beyond grateful for. And without the service the DSAA provided, I would not have had that opportunity.
Those of you who know me, will know that I have always adamantly hated running, even walking, particularly any distance that means I have to leave the comfort of my bedroom. But, my love for Grandma is never-ending, and I want to honour her with this, both emotional, and physical, challenge, to support the incredible work of the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance. So for the following months, I will be training with the hopeful (and challenging) aim to complete a 10k run at the Olympic Park in London, in March, in under an hour.
The DSAA purely rely on donations from people like you, their generosity allowing them to continue to provide life-changing relief from sickness and injury for the people of Dorset and Somerset, by the provision of an air and road-delivered critical care capability. From their airbase in Henstridge, they can be at any point in the two counties in less than 20 minutes. Any donation, no matter how small, makes an impact.
Grandmas presence on this earth was one of pure grace and light. Until the very end of her life she thrived. I will forever miss you grandma, and I love you to bits.
Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.
