RUNNING FOR HANK 10TEN10 for Bereaved Dads Doc

Donation protected
This year marks the 10th anniversary since the death of my son Hank.

To mark the occasion, I will run a Marathon a day for 10 days ending on his 10th Birthday.

Each marathon represents the perpetual pain bereaved parents endure every day. Especially the days leading up to a milestone. We do so in silence as society is not ready to talk about dead babies.

The English language has words for those who have lost parents or a spouse. There are orphans or widows or widowers. But we don't exist. We don't have an identity. It's easy to forget about us. To have our grief unacknowledged.

For the past couple of years I have been working on a documentary to break that taboo. That is why I need your help. I need to raise much needed funds to continue working on what will be the most important film I will ever make.

After Hank died I ate my grief and ballooned up to a 350lb morbidly obese depressed person. It wasn't until I met with other bereaved fathers that I truly began to heal. I gained back my health and now run silly distances to help people. Last year I began Ultra running and raised money to help the Special Care Baby Units that work so hard to keep our most vulnerable safe.
I spent 7 years trapped in a body that was killing me simply because I felt alone. I felt I was the only dad to have ever lost his son.

This film is a love letter to all those suffering in silence.

Running For Hank can easily be replaced with Running For Blank.

I not only run this to celebrate my beautiful son's all too short life, I run to shine a light on all those other little lives lost and the lives they impacted so greatly.

I had initially planned to run at 10 different picturesque locations around Co. Meath where I live. I had incorrectly assumed that we would at least be confined to our counties come January, but alas we are confined to within 5km of our homes since Covid lockdown has increased to Level 5.

I will instead run the 10 marathons somewhere within that distance where I can be isolated from the public.
I am not an elite runner and will take several hours to complete each marathon. So I will announce in due course when I have a location sorted.
