100's Mystery Seizures daily Dayton 9yr Maui Boy

Donation protected
Dayton is a fun, loving, mischievous 8 year boy. He loves being outdoors swimming, biking, hiking and just being a boy. Just recently while at base camp of the Amanda  search Dayton began having episodes of seizures that would come on at all hours of the day while standing,, and at night. The seizures come on without warning and present in a very different way than a normal seizure would.

It progressively got worse until he was finally able to go see his pediatrician, who even she said she was not sure what was going on. He was referred to a pediatric neurologist asap. He met with the neurologist and during the appointment he had 2 episodes of seizures.

He was immediately setup with an MRI and EEG, which could not be done on Maui because he had to be sedated through the procedure. The MRI was normal but the EEG showed he was having 100's of seizures that were not visually being seen. Those seizures they were able to pin point it starting in the frontal lobe of his brain. The ones that we could visually see were off the chart and even the neurologist was baffled because he said there was no real location they started from, his brain was firing off signals from everywhere. This was on Friday, June 14th, 2019 the testing was done and he was immediately admitted to Kaiser Hospital in Oahu. Since June 14th he has been on 11 different seizure medications and so far none have worked. We stay hopeful everyday, by 10 pm as he falls asleep, the seizures start and go on every 10 to 12 minutes for hours given another medication. Until he is seizure free  he could potentially hurt himself if left unattended, creating  24/7 supervision.
Dayton is no longer able to swim, or bike or even walk out of the sight from someone he knows, in case the seizures come on.
Jennifer Regan a single mother of 4 children, and had to temporarily leave her job to care for Dayton. She has 3 other at home on Maui an 11 year old, 10 year old, and a 6 year old. Very fortunate  to have family on island, who can care for them, while all the attention is needed for Dayton
The road to figuring out the right medications is going to be longer than we had expected. The expenses of medical care and the care for family at home are building up.
To get a puppy trained and tested to become a certified medical assistant canine for seizure detection would cost a hefty amount.
Help is needed to be able to afford this.
Family  goal is to raise enough money
1. Get them by until Mom can go back to work full time
2. Help pay the medical expenses and medications  that are extreme.
3. To get the funding needed to have a canine for Dayton.
Having this would  help  give him the quality of life an 8 year old boy needs
