Three years ago, I set out to run 100km around a track in 10 hours in support of March of Dimes and little babies. It was a little bit crazy, I admit. But I hoped it was just crazy enough to get people’s attention and thereby help March of Dimes raise money that they can use to help preemie babies. I can’t do much to help premature babies myself, but I can run. And maybe, just maybe, my running could help somehow.
I set the goal of getting 100 people to sponsor me for $0.10 a lap, which would be $25 in total by the time I was done running 250 laps.
Thanks to the support of the administration at Buchholz, the student March of Dimes Group, Chain Reaction, and so many others, we succeeded in raising almost $6,000 for March of Dimes! The GoFundMe I set up exceeded the original goal of $2,500, and the students raised about $3,000.
Thank you.
Thank you for supporting a worthy cause.
Thank you for helping me help little babies!
This picture is my favorite picture from that day in 2019. Claire, the girl running with me, was born premature and was in NICU for 58 days after she was born. Today she is healthy and happy and full of energy!
Her success is partly because of the research and funding provided by March of Dimes to help premature babies survive and thrive.
So, here we are, three years later. To say the last three years have been full of surprises and challenges is possibly one of the biggest understatements possible. There is so much we cannot control and so many in need. It may feel overwhelming. But, we cannot stop helping when we can. And that is why I am running again.
Will you help?
Make any donation you are comfortable with. If you're local, come out and run a bit with me. I will be out there from 8:30am until 6:30pm on Thursday, March 17th (St. Patrick's Day!!)
All the proceeds go directly to March of Dimes.

Thanks, as always, to my running sponsors, Lloyd Clarke Sports and The Athlete’s Den!!! I couldn’t do what I love without them!
