Take a deep breath.
How do you feel right now?
State and allow the feeling.
Take another deep breath then let it go.
If you already noticed your mind drifting somewhere else, that’s perfectly normal, just bring it back to your breath…
You have just practiced a step in the process of self-healing and awareness. For those who have experienced a lifetime of trauma, mindfulness is a tool that will help them recover and have a ripple effect in their relationships, families, and communities.
ABOUT ME & MBA:
My name is Kevin DeBastos. Since 2020, I have been a board member of the Mind Body Awareness Project. MBA is an impact organization dedicated to researching, developing, and implementing mindfulness-based rehabilitation programs for at-risk, incarcerated youth and adults, as well as those who serve them. Over time, I have become more involved in the project as a facilitator in our San Mateo Juvenile Hall program. In working with our incarcerated youth directly, I've witnessed firsthand the transformative power of the proven MBA curriculum, which emphasizes self-compassion, forgiveness, acceptance, and emotional awareness.
WHERE WE ARE NOW:
MBA has been fortunate to win notable grants from the Department of Homeland Security, California Department of Education, Alameda County, and Santa Clara County, along with annual donations from generous donors to help us build a successful foundation of operations and teachers.
2023 YOUTH SERVICES IMPACT:
- 24 boys and girls served with continued one-on-ones with the Youth Services Center Juvenile Justice Facility in San Mateo County.
- 100% of youths reported improved emotional regulation, self-control, and stress reduction
- 80% of youths reported greater self-esteem, self-compassion, and empathy
- 80% of staff reported improved general behavior in the hall
THE GOAL:
My goal is to raise $10,000 so that we can expand our proven mindfulness programs to reach more students and make a greater impact in our community. I am doing this by running the Miwok 100k trail race through the Marin Headlands that surround Stinson Beach, CA. While training and running for 100k is a challenge, it is nothing compared to the bravery it takes to rebuild a life.
Donate now to help continue MBA’s positive impact on our community. Your contribution will go towards building out our team to create a larger impact, sustaining our day-to-day operations, and allowing our skilled teachers to continue serving our community.

Thank you again for your generosity in supporting MBA. Your contribution will make a significant difference. I'll keep you updated on my progress and the impact of your support.
At the end of every MBA session we close by dedicating the merit. Join me in reciting the following:
Any positivity generated here today
May be given away
To our families
To our friends
To our neighborhoods
May all beings be at peace
May all beings be at ease
May all beings be free
With heartfelt gratitude,
