Another 1000km for Sarah
Donation protected
In October last year our dear friend Sarah Sargent lost her battle with Motor Neurone Disease, Sarah was a beautiful mother, a loving wife and for many of us a brave and inspirational friend.
Sarah was diagnosed in 2020 and decided to walk the South West Coast Path (England) from Poole to Minehead, a distance of 1014km. This walk is also known at The Salt Path following the memoir of Raynor Winn who walked the path with her husband who was diagnosed with a terminal illness. Despite brave efforts Sarah did not complete the walk, however she did see it completed by her friends. Sarah has raised over £45,000 and friends continue to raise funds in her name.
For everyone who was fortunate to have Sarah in their lives she was someone who made the most of her life, she was an inspiration to many of us and she continues to be a positive influence despite her absence.
The Bibbulmun track is a 1000km walk from Kalamunda (Perth) in Western Australia to Albany and whilst my attempt is not remarkable I am sure there will be times where my solo effort will be tested through physical challenges and extended absence from my family, when this happens I will be reminded of the strength and resilience of a friend who is no longer with us and will continue the journey one step at a time.
All funds that are raised from my walk will be shared equally between the UK and Australian registered MND charities in an effort to improve care, research and campaigning for this terrible disease.
