Restoring Riverine Forests on Kilimanjaro!

Tax deductible
Over the past decades, the rivers flowing from Mt Kilimanjaro and Mt Meru have been under tremendous pressure - deforestation along these riparian zones has severely affected the water tables, causing topsoil erosion and sediment build-up downstream.
There is also a huge loss in biodiversity
The rivers are drying up,
BUT…
Communities are waking up

The time to act is now!

We are working alongside these communities to help protect and restore riverine forests. They want to grow trees, restore their environments, make the rivers flow again, bring back biodiversity, and earn a fair living.

We now have 100,000 seedlings (growing across two nurseries) ready for planting in the upcoming long rains that will start anytime in April and continue until June 2022.

The problem now is a funding gap to get these trees planted and cared for.
And so we need urgent support.

This past month we’ve been actively engaging communities
(check out the wonderful activations on our Instagram page @thekiliproject)

We have a seed bank that will allow us to collect and store millions of seeds for propagation over the coming years.

We have two nurseries growing over 100,000 trees of 10 different indigenous species

We can monitor and track the trees to ensure a good survival rate.

Your USD 3 / tree contribution will enable us to plant these seedlings AND ensure a two-year maintenance plan by paying community members to care for the tree at their most vulnerable growth period.

We’re starting with 30,000 trees (USD90,000) for our campaign and adding trees at an incremental rate!
Will you help us reach our first 30,000 tree milestone before April 15th and go further?

Can we reach 100,000 together before the end of April?

1. The First 10 funders will receive a personalized certificate of appreciation and a shout out on our social media platforms!

2. Donations over 50 trees will also receive a personalized certificate

3. Donations over 1000 trees will receive a personalized certificate AND a digital dashboard to track their trees are planted.

4. Donations over 3000 trees will be invited to spend four nights at Kiota Nest , where we host one of our nurseries (excluding flights, of course!)

Your contribution will also enable us to do more community activations and planting/growing training - crucial to the ongoing success of our project.

We'd love you to join our mission and reach our target!
