MRACLE (without "i) is a non-profit organization on a mission to accelerate a flattening of the COVID-19 curve. The goal of the 100K Miracle Mask Campaign is to raise awareness about the ongoing PPE shortages in the US, as well as the current issues affecting the PPE supply chain.
In the last 1.5 months, founding members of MRACLE have been in talks with the procurement leads of various hospitals and large suppliers—the primary takeaway being that payment terms are the single biggest blocker of Americans receiving PPE when they need it. The inflexibility of upfront payment structures (i.e. 100% down) to secure PPE inventory is the key reason why the US is not receiving nearly enough equipment from the global seller market. Currently, more than 80% of the global PPE inventory is bought and shipped to Europe and Canada, not the United States.
As the pandemic continues, we have been seeing ongoing PPE shortages from hospitals and institutions throughout the US. Supply is limited, and it’s increasingly expensive to source high-quality products from overseas.
Our team is committed to securing and distributing as much PPE as possible at speed while finding innovative ways to break through the bureaucratic barriers. Currently, we have access to an US-based inventory of 100,000 medical masks that are ready to be distributed to anywhere in the US in as little as 2 days! These masks can immediately help doctors, nurses, and healthcare workers at hospitals and urgent care centers—many of whom have been forced to wear the same, single-use mask day-after-day due to shortages. With your help, we can help them get better protected.

How will the fund be used?
100% of donations will go directly into facilitating the purchase and delivery of masks, and we will prioritize the purchase towards all US-based PPE inventory with a primary focus on the 100K medical masks in NYC warehouses. Any additional dollar amount will be used to purchase PPE that is already in the US or those that can be delivered to the US at speed. Our entire team is working on the project for free, and no one is benefiting from this financially.
How do we allocate the donations?
We will send all of our PPE purchases to institutions that need it the most based on how urgent their staff needs to be protected and not on their ability to pay.
What have you accomplished so far?
1)We have successfully arranged a donation of 1000 surgical masks from Arthur Wang, who represents supplier Myleego USA, to UCLA Medical Center.
2) Our co-founder Susan Ho has arranged a donation of 125 Surgical and N95 masks to North Shore Physicians group after hearing that nurses there were in desperate need of PPE.
3) Our MRACLE alumni John Liu has generously donated over 12000 medical masks to Manhattan Upper East Senior Center and another 400 to his alma mater University of Buffalo!
How is MRACLE2020 different from other charity platforms?
MIRACLE2020 believes in complete transparency of PPE product quantity, price, supplier/product images, etc between the two parties: accredited suppliers, donors, or donation fund partners on one hand and receiving institutions on the other. We report where every single dollar goes to procure PPE, and all these numbers can be found on our website’s donation tracker as well as our social media platforms.

How much does a medical mask cost?
The current market rate for surgical or medical masks ranges from $0.3 to over a dollar depending on the location of the product. US-based inventory is typically more expensive given its inventory limitations. Mask prices are changing daily based on the market supply and demand. As an organization, we will use 100% of the donation funds to purchase US-based PPE inventory.
