If so, how many times today have you been able to feed yourself with little concern about how you would do so?
Did you know here in California, nearly 1 in 8 people face food insecurity every day! “Food insecurity” is the occasional or constant lack of access to the food one needs for a healthy, active life. As of 2019, there are approximately 39,510,000 people living within California alone. This means approximately 4,938,750 people go hungry in California each day.
Food insecurity has no limit and it affects all races, genders , and ages. Sadly it affects a wide range of people. Families are suffering, resources are lacking, children are going without, and the homeless population is rising.
Most people think being homeless is a choice, but in reality, some of them have no choice at all. They don't have a support system they can rely on when things get tough so they end up in the streets. Yes, there are shelters, but that's just temporary and the chances of everyone getting a bed is slim so most of them are turned away. I would like to create a community that helps them get back on their feet and supports them in becoming a stable self-sufficient member of the world. For the past two years of my life I have been connecting with the community and I have been giving back to the people by providing meals, hygiene kits, and most importantly a listening ear when needed. I would like to help change the narrative on homelessness and bring hope in humanity so they can believe in themselves again. My experience, from having spent time with homeless people around my community, is that they are very grateful for the smallest gestures and they just need More support than what’s available. My life vision is to start my non profit and create transition homes for the Homeless. But for now I make small gestures to reach as many people as I can & to donate to the local shelters . I’d like to create a way to expand from 20 people to 1000 people, but I need your help doing it.
How many homeless people can we help feed today? Well, if 250 people each donated $10, we could approximately Feed 1000 homeless people in the greater Los Angeles area. My GOAL is to raise $3000 by 12/01/2020 to be able to bring this vision to expand from feeding 20 to 1,000 people .
