100 years in 2027 - our hall needs an upgrade
Our Scout Hall has been serving the community in and around Altona for the last 98 years. In 2027, our group and hall will be celebrating our 100th year. So, we can continue to service the community and also recognise all the volunteers and members who have been part of scouting our group before our 100th year celebrations in 2027 we are seeking financial support to undertake the below list of repairs.
Things that need to be done are:
- Reskin and apply insulation to the interior roof area
- Re-nail exterior roof iron
- Replace gutters for the entire hall
- Add security cameras to the front and back enterances of the hall.
- Waterproof the hall - Reskin the exterior of the hall as its currently has no insulation and a very thin layer of fake stone allowing rain to run into the walls
- Sand blast and resurface Scouts metal logo on the front of the hall
- Repaint all windows and grills
- Repair back-room gyprock interior
- Prepare and repaint hall interior
- Add sound dampening to the inside of the hall.
- Create a 100-year mural on the front door side of the hall
- If funds allow, insert double security glass door and a 1.5-meter deck to the front of the hall to allow leaders to monitor outside activities.
The list is long, and a key focus will be on making the hall watertight before any beautification works occur. As the hall is currently lined in very old sheeting, we believe that it may contain aspestos and therefore the cost to repair the hall are higher. Our group owns our hall and that makes it harder to get help fixing it. Can you help us? no donation is too small, and we would be very greatful for any support so we can continue to deliver a great scouting experience for the next 100 years.
