The 100 Roofs Project.

The idea for this project grew organically. Our family, as well as our friends and neighbors were impacted by the May 16th tornado that devastated the west and north sides of St. Louis. A storm path which was 1 mile wide and 23 miles long in some of the most densely populated parts of Missouri had ripped through our city leaving devastating damage.

With the rest of the city we got to work immediately, clearing roads, securing our home and the homes of our friends and family and we just never stopped. Initially we self funded, providing professional tarping services and tree removal free of charge anywhere we saw need. Along the way our numbers grew and so did our goal. 100 roofs, professionally tarped and dried in.

Residents of St Louis City, our neighbors, our teachers, our retired police officers, our children, our friends, the cornerstones of our communities are STILL living in homes with active roof leaks and damaged interiors. Government takes time, grassroots volunteer organizations have been the first and most robust help on site since the storm. Phase one goal was to dry in roofs of occupied homes and clear debris, allow residents a few months of protection.

There were resources available after we reached our goal of drying in 100 occupied homes! Phase two includes providing new roofs, masonry work and interior repairs to keep families in their home not only the next few months, but for another 50 years.

The neighborhoods we are helping are multigenerational and family oriented, multiple family members often occupying the same block. People have endured the worst, their whole lives changing in a few minutes, they are tired and need help, this is an all hands on deck kind of year, let’s get to work.

Jake Wheeler, Sara Isbell, Chad Jackson and Johnny Lee thank you for your support.
