️‍♂️ 10 TONNES. 100 REPS. 71 YEARS OLD. ONE MASSIVE PURPOSE.

On Remembrance Day—11 November 2026—retired grandfather Garry Zealand will attempt an extraordinary feat:

Deadlift 100 kilograms for 100 repetitions in a single session.

That is 10,000 kilograms.

Ten tonnes lifted at 71 years of age.

Garry’s goal is to raise $20,000—equivalent to $2 for every kilogram he attempts to lift.

But this challenge isn’t really about Garry. It’s about continuing a lifetime of helping others.

For more than 40 years, Garry has volunteered his experience as a sports trainer across various football clubs and, more recently, with Cricket Australia Masters.

Cricket Australia Masters selects Australian teams to compete in international Over-60s, Over-65s and Over-70s World Cup tournaments. With little or no sponsorship available, players and volunteer support staff are generally required to fund their own involvement—often costing thousands of dollars.

Despite being retired, living on his life savings and receiving a part age pension, Garry continues giving his time freely.

He assists the Australian teams with injury prevention, rehabilitation, strapping and taping, warm-ups, conditioning, stretching, mobility and injury management—doing everything he can to keep the players fit, healthy and able to represent their country.

Up to $5,000 raised through the challenge will help Garry travel to Sri Lanka to volunteer as a sports trainer with the Australian Over-65s team during its World Cup campaign.

The remaining $15,000 will be donated to Veterans MMA, a not-for-profit organisation using martial arts, exercise and community programs to support returned servicemen and women as they adjust to life after service.

If the campaign exceeds its $20,000 target, any additional charitable recipients and donation amounts will be announced publicly, with consideration given to other reputable Australian mental-health and suicide-prevention organisations.

Garry’s preparation is already underway through a progressive strength and conditioning program monitored by Kaizen Exercise Physiologists in Maroochydore.

At 71, this will require months of discipline, resilience and serious physical preparation.

You can sponsor part of Garry’s 10 tonnes:

1 kilogram = $2
5 kilogram = 10
10 kilogram = 20
25 kilograms = $50
50 kilograms = $100
100 kilograms = $200
1 tonne = $2,000

Every donation—large or small—will move Garry closer to his target.

If you’re unable to donate, please share his story. Every share helps Garry reach more people, support veterans and continue volunteering his experience to older Australians representing their country.
