Hello generous and kind-hearted people,

My name is Jalisa Ford, Founder of 1 Jar Foundation, and I truly appreciate you taking a moment to read my story. My family and my community have been blindsided by the loss of my dear son, Janari Andre Ricks, due to a random act of gun violence while playing outside. I’ve decided to channel my grief and it into something positive, inspired by, and in honor of, Janari’s loving and generous spirit. Hundreds can attest to the fact that Janari was a ray of sunshine to his school, his peers, family, community, and anyone he met and touched. We’re hoping to bring a little bit of that Janari sunshine back to them through our foundation’s ongoing efforts. Want to join me in making a positive difference for young children and their families in Chicago’s Near Northside community this holiday season?

I am raising funds to benefit our 4th Annual Holiday Toy Drive this year on December 16th, 2023. Any size donation helps to create an impact on these children and on the world as a whole. Thanks in advance for contributing to the cause, which means so much to me. The fundraising efforts ensure that 5,000-10,000 families on the often neglected Near Northside of Chicago have the joyous experience of receiving at least 3-5 brand new gifts, including much needed winter coats, hats, and gloves, per household! Our past Holiday Toy Drive events have made tremendous impact as reported and seen on various major news sources and journalistic outlets. The donation fundraising budget goal this year of $50,000 would ensure that we at 1 Jar Foundation continue to grow and thrive in our efforts to help our at-risk youth and community members. As an official *501(c)3 not-for-profit, 1 Jar Foundation’s existence and impact is dependent on the generous support of donors like yourself for the organization’s administrative and operational support, our sincerely dedicated staff, partners, and volunteers, 1 Jar Foundation’s future programing planning, and additional youth event expenses.
