Equip Firefighters in P.Vallarta

Last year Ryan Thorburn and Chris Hounsell (Oyster River FD) took an old BCEHS ambulance down to Chacala, El Tuito Mexico. We raised money and the ambulance went in to service on the same day we donated it with, us in the back.
Driving thru Puerto Vallarta we wanted to stop at their firehall and talk to their Bomberos. Just to make us feel a little at home before we carried on. They showed us around, we had a few refreshments and we got the idea that they wanted this ambulance. They said: “we want that ambulance”.
They informed us that they had not had a running ambulance for over a year. They get fixed at the city and they don't get along with them at all so it just sits in the back. They had another parts ambulance in the bay at the firehall. This means that all the locals, elderly and people without a care program are not getting rides to the hospital. The ambulances you see in PV are private ambulances that work for the tourist plans, Canadians, US, Europeans. I also poked my head in a couple of the trucks compartments and saw gloves, rags, hardhats and a lot of empty space.
This year we have another ambulance and it is going to the PV Bomberos. We are picking up as much equipment in Seattle as we can fit in. SCBA, Masks, boots etc, even hoses and nozzles,
We are soliciting monetary donations for fuel and fees. We are trying to raise $6,000 dollars, that’s $2 for every mile we have to travel. Also, any small items that you can spare for a personal use, flashlights, helmets, balaclavas etc.
Last year we were 22 hours at the Mexican border. This year we will bring food with us for the wait.
