Hugs Not Drugs is a non profit charity, raising money for drug addicted babies who have been subject to substance misuse by their mother's throughout pregnancy.
We are based in the UK where, in some counties, as many as 1 in 250 babies are born with a drug addiction.
We can't stop their mother's using illegal drugs or abusing medication while pregnant, but we will fight to give the babies the best start possible in life, and make their journey to recovery as smooth as possible.
They need round the clock care and attention, soft blankets & clothes to ease the withdrawalsl symptoms on their skin, calm atmospheres and quiet rooms and so much more.
Skin to skin contact and human affection is also highly beneficial for their recovery.
The effects of recovery are horrific, not just for the babies but also for the people helping them recover.
One of the founders of Hugs Not Drugs, Dan, aged 38, has waisted no time when it comes to fundraising and has begun training for his first ever white collar boxing match.
It will be held in Preston on the 20th May at Evoke nightclub.
Tickets are £20 but not all of this money goes to charity so we need to raise as much as possible to help get our first ever fundraiser off to a good start.
Unfortunately, the topic of drug addicted babies is considered quiet "taboo" and isa swept under the carpet.
Hugs Not Drugs wants to raise awareness of the effects taking drugs while pregnant can have on the baby.
Our official charity number is currently pending but we hope to have it in the next few weeks.
