Jenny and Ben's Adoption Plan

Ben and I were married in 2006 and started trying for a baby in the spring of 2007. We tried for over a year before we found out that I am unable to have children. We then decided to go through invitro treatments.  During this time we had family members who were having children and becoming families. We felt that we were going to be joining them  soon after. When the treatments didn't work, it was hard for Jenny especially, because she felt that she was a failure. To make matters harder, family members would tell us that we needed "one of them" and after their second child... "when's it your turn?" So, I started distancing myself from those people. Not because I don't love them, but because I had a hard time handling them having children and we can't. It's selfish, and really not a great way to think about things, but it's the way it is. After that set back, we decided to just live our lives and enjoy being together.

We talked about going through the treatments again, when the "personhood" bills were in the news, Ben and I talked about going through treatments again. If these bills would have been voted into law, it would have made invitro treatments illegal in North Dakota. We wouldn't have been able to afford to drive to Minneapolis and stay for a week at a time for the treatments down there. We decided that with everything going on and the fact that the treatments aren't a 100% fix, we would put our money to an adoption.

To be honest, when I was growing up I told my mom that I wasn't going to have children, but that all changed when I got married. All I want is to be a mom and for Ben to be a dad. The down side is that it is so expensive. We are asking for help make our dreams a reality so any donation will help.
