My family and I live in the City of Orem, Utah.
For the last 3 years our family has had the opportunity to host players from the Orem Owlz professional baseball team, at our house. We provide transportation for them for the summer. We feed them and go watch as many of their baseball games as possible.

We have come to develop wonderful relationshps with many of the players. Some of the players are from a little country named the Dominican Republic.

The professional baseball players from the Dominican Republic stated that most of the people are very poor. They have very little money for basic essentials, like food and water. The kids definately can't afford new baseball equipment.
Last year I asked for help gathering some baseball equipment, within 24 hours I had more baseball equipment than I could take on one airplane.

The money you donate will help cover the cost of the flight, and the baggage fees.  We plan to stay with some of the same players houses that lived with us during the summer. So food and lodging is practically covered.

I met up with multiple professional players, Raul Linares, Alez Valdez and others in the Angels Minor league system. We then toured around to different little league fields and met with several little league baseball players.

Raul routinely would give a baseball lesson. He'd talk about how to be a good baseball player. How to always work hard. How to listen to the coaches. And most importantly, how important it is to get a good education.

I would watch the kids that Raul was teaching. When I observed the kids that were paying closest attention, I would offer them some of the equipment. Some would get new baseballs, a couple got new baseball bats, many got new jerseys and a select few got real leather mitts.

This year I am taking my son Chazz, so we can take even more equipment.

More importantly, Chazz will have the opportunity to see how other people in other parts of the world live. At 12 years of age, I expect that he will return with a lifetimes worth of knowledge and experience.

Last year, several people asked how they could help us. I am hoping that people would be willing to donate a few dollars to assist in airfare, baggage fees, and some of the costs of being in the country for 2 weeks.

This is a wonderful opportunity for us to give items to the kids that litterally have nothing of value. Giving items like these to the kids of the Dominican Republic makes them so happy.

I leaves a special feeling in your heart knowing that such a simple act of kindness goes so far. Any donations you would like to make are very helpful for me and my son to have an even more successful trip than last year.
