Dollars for Dinners is a project I created based on the success of Crockpot Freezer meals that I made for a few families last year who needed some help.

Once again, I am asking for donations to help make as many meals as possible for the West Muskoka Food Bank.  With no soup kitchen to provide hot meals in our immediate area, Dollars for Dinners is helping to provide homemade meals made with real food so families can have a hot, fresh dinner once or twice a week.  That is something many of us take for granted.

I am asking for any donation you can afford.  The average cost for a meal is $15.00 - $20.00 each.   This provides a family  of four with a meal they can put in their crockpot in the morning and come home to a home-cooked meal, a meal made from real ingredients, chicken, beef, pork, potatoes, vegetables and nothing you can't pronounce.  To date, we have also received over 20 donated crockpots and made over 450 meals for a family of 4.

Money donated will be used to buy the groceries needed to make Crockpot freezer meals for the West Muskoka Food Bank.   I have the time, I have the volunteers, I have the freezer bags, the labels and the willingness to make these meals....but I don't have the endless bank account to support my cause.

Supporting my community is something I feel very strongly about.  These families who need our help are people you and I know.  Perhaps their children go to school with your children.  Perhaps you see them on a regular basis and have no idea they are struggling. And maybe they would be thrilled to come home to a house that smelled like a meal we may take for granted.

Anything you can give will go towards helping a local family put a hot meal on the table.

Another successful weekend of chopping is under our belts and we have added another 16 meals to the Food Bank's freezer.

The SC Johnson company has come through again and delivered 648 Ziploc bags to help us make our meals. The great thing about these new bags is that they are stand and fill, which will make our jobs that much easier!

We still need your donations to help us reach our goal this year to make over 600 meals for a family of four. Any donations are appreciated!!

$460.00 spent today, 7 pairs of hands, 1.5 hours of their time and we created 36 crockpot freezer meals to start the season. Each meal feeds a minimum of 4 people and each meal costs an average of $12.75. That is some good math!!

Thank you to Matthew Burns, Karen Taylor, Janette Hembruff Pozzobon, Debbie Hiscock Urbanski, Rob Overholt and Valery - your help is much appreciated and will make a difference. :)

We are going to be chopping every Sunday from now until the end of April. If you have a group of 4-6 who want to volunteer their time, pick a Sunday and I will pencil you in. It is a very heart-warming way to spend a couple of hours on a Sunday and really goes a long way to help our fellow community members.

You can also donate to our new campaign www.gofundme.com/dollarsfordinnersyear2

We are getting ready for our first chop fest of the season. The list is done, the bags are prepared and the choppers are lined up.

We have started our new campaign at www.gofundme.com/dollarsfordinnersyear2

Please visit us there and help with any donation you can. We would like to surpass our meal count of 450 meals last year and make over 600 this year. Your donations make that possible. :)

You are fantastic. Every time I help at the food bank, more people are coming in for such a wondergul meal. I am sending more money now. Have you looked into charitable status? That might bring up donations. Talk to Terry Chute about what is involved. Beth

Hi Susan, This is awesome! I was thinking that I would love to get these meals for myself but am happy to pay for them. That might be another way to raise money for the charitable ones but still get healthy meals out to everyone. Keep up the good work!
