Deputy Ben Zirbel Family

$24,995 of $50,000 goal

Deputy Ben Zirbel was a husband and father known for his unending generosity, energy, and friendship. He has touched the lives of so many in his 40 years and his young family has a tough road ahead without him.

Many have asked how they can help. This support will be greatly needed and helpful during this time.  With enough, we can hopefully help them throughout these tough months and during the transition to a one income household.

One way is to donate here on gofundme. If you have Vystar access there is an account set up in his honor # 7507565803. Nonperishable donated items are being accepted at the main office of the Clay County Fairgrounds.

This is 100% fully for the family and will be promptly given to his loving wife. The CCSO has listed this GoFundMe as an approved method to help.

If you are not familiar with Ben's story, please see below.

Traffic Deputy Ben Zirbel, a 12-year veteran of the Clay County Sheriff's Office, was riding his agency-issued motorcycle on Blanding Boulevard at Camp Francis Johnson Road, just south of Kingsley Avenue.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the traffic deputy was traveling south on his Clay County Sheriff's Office motorcycle when the driver of a pickup truck on northbound Blanding Boulevard attempted to turn left onto Camp Francis Johnson Road.

FHP Sgt. Dylan Bryan said the driver of the Dodge Dakota pickup, which was towing a lawn trailer, failed to yield the right of way to the deputy, causing the motorcycle to collide with the trailer.

Officer Zirbel has passed away.

Today was a day that showed the amazing support, admiration, and love our great city has.

As we drove down the road hundreds of people stood outside their vehicles, on sidewalks, atop firetrucks and overpasses, to show their respect. We saw you, we thank you, we are humbled by you.

Through pain we can find purpose and through love we can move mountains.

Thank you all!

Thank you for you support!

This GoFundMe was set up with a goal of $50,000 to help support the Zirbel family through a long road of recovery. Sadly, it was announced today that Deputy Ben Zirbel has passed away.

Now, it is even more necessary we raise this money to help with the future of Deputy Zirbels wife and young son. Today they lose a husband, father, teacher, fixer, and supporter. Money cannot replace this, but it can allow them to concentrate on other more important things.

Please share Deputy Zirbels story and GoFundMe with you friends and family. Let's get the word out and help remove one concern.

Thank you all!
