My goal is to raise $8,000.00
My name is Darlene Kimball Quillen and I would like to ask for your help. I need assistance to fund my volunteer position with Mercy Ships. I will be serving as a medical technologist (lab tech) on the hospital ship Africa Mercy in Cameroon, starting September 2nd, 2017. As a lab tech, I will be drawing blood from patients and performing chemistry, hematology, microbiology, blood bank and other testing to help the physicians provide the best possible patient care. I need to raise $8,000.00 in funding.
We are so blessed to have wonderful health care here in the United States. Developing nations are not able to enjoy the same level of care that we have. The needs of the people where Mercy Ships serve are great and poverty, lack of health resources and expertise make it very difficult for people to have access to care.
Mercy Ships is able to provide surgical treatment to restore health and function to patients with a variety of conditions. Mercy Ships delivers free, world-class healthcare services to the forgotten poor in developing nations. More than 1,500 crew members from around the globe serve annually. Each one volunteers his/her services to help fulfill the mission of Mercy Ships.
It has been my dream for several years to participate as a volunteer with Mercy Ships. I first became aware of their mission when I read a biography by the founder Don Stephens called “Ships of Mercy: The Remarkable Fleet Bringing Hope to the World’s Poor”. Later 60 Minutes a popular TV program did a segment on their service in Africa and that further inspired my desire to be a part of their staff and to take care of these patients.
Funding will make it possible for me to volunteer with Mercy Ships and allow you to participate in this wonderful work as a sponsor. Your gift allows me to go and do what I have been trained to do. We will share in caring and loving others through service, and offer hope instead of despair, and transform lives, one patient at a time. Will you be a sponsor today?
Thank you for helping to sponser me and the great work that Mercy Ships is doing to serve the forgotten poor. May God bless your kindness and compassion.
