DACA Renewal for my Students

Donation protected
My name is Ann and I am a professor of History in Eastern Washington.  I am reaching out to ask that you help me raise funds for E.W.U. Dreamers who need to renew their DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) status before Donald Trump assumes the office of the presidency on January 20, 2017.  I know of 5 current DACA students whose 2-year status is about to expire.  DACA renewal costs $465.  Together, we can raise the funds these amazing young people need to secure DACA, which immigration advocacy groups such as United We Dream suggest is the best protection for them right now.

Here is some background on DACA:

Many people in our communities feel at risk since Donald Trump’s election.   But the most vulnerable immediately are the 11 million undocumented, who come from around the globe.  In that group are many millions of "Dreamers."  They are young people brought to the U.S. by their parents without immigration documents.  "The Dream Act" in various forms has died in Congress multiple times over the last 15 years.  It would have provided immigration protection for those young people.  President Obama, frustrated with the stalling, took an executive action to grant work permits and immigration deferment to the Dreamers.  This is DACA.

E.W.U., like campuses across the country, has many DACA and undocumented students, including veterans.  Trump has promised to obliterate DACA and deport them all.  Whether or not he follows through immediately with that campaign promise, our students’ best protection is to have their DACA status up-to-date.

All the funds raised by this campaign will go directly to students whose DACA renewal applications are ready to be submitted; funds will not be used for any other purpose.

Thank you so much!
