Journey Towards Heroes and Homes
The Journey Towards Heroes and Homes is a year long cycling effort to raise awareness, empathy and funds to benefit homeless people, with a long term goal of creating a Therapeutic Community. A Therapeutic Community that will be specifically created and designed to facilitate the healing of the homeless and those in need.
During this year; from June 11,2018 to June 11, 2019, I will be cycling through 4 seasons in Canada while living on the generosity of others and seeking opportunities to help those in need. This effort will be accomplished through your support and contribution, while I volunteer my time at homeless shelters, transition homes, food banks, and spread a message of the importance of empathy, non-judgmental support and unconditional contribution.
Basically, I am choosing to invest this year into living in service to others.
I welcome your contribution to the Journey Towards Heroes and Homes effort. Whether it is through contributions of money, time or services; it all has a tremendous impact on the success of this effort.
We can all choose to be a Hero to those in need!
I appreciate your support, encouragement and contribution! Your choice to join me in having a positive impact on homeless people and those in need, will go a long way towards a healing effort that will benefit many.
You can follow the Journey Towards Heroes and Homes on Facebook, https://www.facebook.com/JourneyTowardsHeroesandHomes/ and Instagram @cyclewithpaz . It would be great to meet you in person, when I am cycling in your area.

Yours in health and healing,
Growth comes with discomfort, and valuable lessons learned! Now is the time that I need to use lessons learned and prepare for the upcoming winter season. If you are able, please contribute as you can to this effort and the continued success.
The Journey Towards Heroes and Homes is almost at the half way mark and coming into Winter on the Prairies, as the cycling continues West until I reach Tofino. With your support, I know we can get there!
It is important to keep in mind why we are doing all this and putting in the effort. To positively impact those in need and invest in the solution through support.
During the upcoming winter months, please take time to personally positively impact those in need that you see, witness and experience. Your contribution; of thoughts, words or actions will often mean more than you realize. That has been my experience over the last three years since starting the Journey Towards Heroes and Homes!
I am grateful for your support, encouragement and contribution to the effort of Journey Towards Heroes and Homes.
Now that I am over two months into the year long J2H2, the impact your help has been is tremendous! I have thought about turning back three times since starting, and actually started cycling back once, for a variety of reasons. In each instance, it was the people that I met, that encouraged me, inspired me, contributed to me, and helped me continue moving on. From the biggest financial contributors, Dave and Mike, to inspiring words and actions, to acts of generosity of hospitality, food or gear. The efforts of many have made the success of the Journey Towards Heroes and Homes possible.
I am excited to continue along a path of healing that will result in the creation of a Therapeutic Community to facilitate the healing of those in need. The next big stop will be returning to Winnipeg, MB, and preparing for Winter!
I look forward to our paths crossing, and joining in an effort to have a positive impact on those most in need. Thank you for supporting this effort, with your encouragement, example and contribution.
Yours in health and healing,

The Journey Toward Heroes and Homes (JTHAH) has been a success in many ways, with the realization that some goals were not achieved.
I was able to cycle across Canada: I started in Chilliwack, B.C., rode west to Tofino, and then doubled back all the way to Guysborough, N.S. and back to Halifax. This was an act of solidarity with the homeless, who have very few resources. The entire JTHAH was done while living on $11/day and the generosity of others. Awareness and empathy of their plight was raised, as well as support and funds for the creation of a Therapeutic Community to facilitate healing for those in need. It was a big success, largely due to the support, generosity and contributions of many people.
Having a positive impact on Homeless People and those most in need was another success that I experienced along the JTHAH in a variety of ways: from volunteering at soup kitchens, to sharing a meal with “Dangerous Dave”(the name he gave me) and many others. I spent a great deal of time talking about the possibilities of healing, and practicing compassionate listening each time I met those most in need. It was a plentitude of shared experiences.
The goals not yet achieved come in the form of fundraising, and witnessing the creation of a Therapeutic Community for those most in need.
THE GOOD NEWS
I remain committed to achieving the goals of raising awareness, support and funds to create a Therapeutic Community to facilitate the healing of homeless people and those in need, and will make a second attempt at a year of cycling to raise awareness.
This second attempt will be called the Cycle2HelpHeal (C2H2), as the intention is to facilitate healing. Visit the site to learn how you can contribute to the creation of a Therapeutic Healing Community. Details to follow in the coming days.
A realization from the JTHAH is that I need help to accomplish these goals, along with meeting the basic human needs of food, water and shelter. As I prepare for another year of cycling, my reality is that I need help to raise $11/day and, in keeping with the challenges faced by homeless people everywhere, I will be solely relying on the generosity of others along the journey.
*This page will now be my personal fundraising effort*
The money raised will go towards mostly food, electrolytes, needed gear, repairs and contributions to those most in need along the journey.
The $2000 raised on the first leg on the JTHAH will be donated to the Cycle2HelpHeal, a separate campaign where 100% of the funds raised will continue to go towards the creation on the Therapeutic Community and benefiting Homeless people and those most in need.
I welcome your support, generosity, and contribution. Whether it is in thought, word, or action, your intentional choices will greatly impact my experience over the coming year. Spreading the word of the C2H2 or the JTHAH, gifting your time or services to the effort, or showing your generosity through a monetary donation; all of these contributions help.
I look forward to thanking all of you in person, and am excited to have our paths cross in the coming days!
Yours in Health and Healing,
The Journey Towards Heroes and Homes is month old and the experience has been beautiful! The vision of creating a Therapeutic Community for the Homeless is becoming closer to a reality every day. Every dollar that is donated will go directly to the cost of building and creating a Therapeutic Community that will facilitate the healing of an individual most in need, in the form of tiny homes, community gardens, food forests, and eco greenhouses. Your contribution of time, money or services will go tremendously far in the support of this journey, and the reality of creating a Therapeutic Community that provides for basic human needs of an individual while on their path to becoming a contributing member of a larger community once again. Your contribution to the Journey Towards Heroes and Homes is greatly appreciated!
