Help for Danielle, Adrian & Family

On October 26, 2018, my best friend, Danielle, and her husband, Adrian, lost everything they owned when their U-Haul truck was stolen outside of their apartment complex.
They were getting ready to move themselves and their 2 beautiful girls, Anaya, 2, and Siana 10 months, to their new apartment. Unfortunately, they were only left with an overnight bag for the girls, Danielle's purse, and Adrian's bookbag with some electronics, and personal items.

Any help you can give would be much appreciated as they now have to essentially start over.

Gone In 60 Seconds
On Friday at approximately 12:20pm, with the help of movers, we’d just completed packing our 15ft U-Haul in Oakland. Minutes later--intent on starting the drive to Los Angeles and a new life in SoCal--a thief broke in, hotwired the truck and drove away with everything we owned.
Clothing for our children, photos and irreplaceable keepsakes such as my wife’s father’s ashes—are at the core of the loss. Seemingly, every half-hour we are reminded of how much of our lives was in the back of that truck and struggle to reconcile the loss.
In the span of about one minute, virtually everything—everything—we have ever owned was taken from us. Every memory, every personal item. It is difficult to describe the gut-wrenching feeling of violation we are experiencing. My family and I continue only thru a feeling of gratitude that none of us was hurt and we struggle to understand how someone could so callously take so much from us.
Coping with the idea of building a life from scratch, knowing that some part of us is being sold off to the highest bidder is daunting—in my imagination, this is worse than having all of our things burned in an unexpected fire. (Hindsight—this was written at an intense time, I realize now...the myopic viewpoint I had; I’m thinking about the people affected by the fires in CA) At this point, I am not holding out hope that the truck will be returned. However, my wife and I are hoping that the kindness of friends and family and other kind-hearted souls will help us make it thru this valley.

The truck was found.
We’ve had an incredible outpouring of support and consideration was paid in various forms including via the GoFundMe process. We felt it appropriate to close the donation portal and ensure refunds to those who wish it as we have been incredibly fortunate in having most of our belongings recovered. Again, thank you for your caring, kindness and especially your prayers. -AM
Follow Up: the original GoFundMe page was started by my wife’s friend Stacey which is why the intro reads as such. She has chosen to relinquish her administrative role to me. I will be reaching out to thank every donor individually (we are still taken to the task of moving and preparing for a new job, apologies for the delay). Thank you all immensely.
Note: We have yet to verify but it appears that thru a miscommunication we had a six day gap in our renters insurance coverage—so on the day of the theft, our policy was not in force. That being the case, these funds are actually extremely helpful. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me in the interim with any questions or concerns.-AM
