Conference & Hurricane Relief Trip

Help Me Get to Texas for Sustainability Education Conference and Hurricane Relief Volunteering

They say that the best way to find a new job is through networking. They also say it takes money to make money. Professional conferences are one of the best ways for academics like me to make new connections and build their careers. But attending conferences is expensive. As many of you may know, I've been unsuccessful in my search for work for over a year now. Consequently, I'm broke.
One project I've completed over this last year is editing a book called Education and Sustainability: Paradigms, Policies and Practices in Asia . While I was working on the book, I sent a proposal to a conference for the American Association for Sustainability in Higher Education to give a talk on the topic. My proposal was accepted. Usually, academic jobs include funds for giving talks at professional conferences. I had expected to land a job well before the conference, but that hasn't happened yet.
On 20 September, I got the good news that a donor had come forth with some scholarships for conference attendance, and they offered to pay my registration fee! Your donations will help me pay the costs for transportation to San Antionio, a place to stay, and meals while I'm there. My bare-bones minimum budget was $1500 - and with this scholarship and so many generous donations I've exceeded that goal!
If I can make it to Texas, then maybe I can also help with Hurricane Harvey recovery efforts, since I'll be 'in the neighborhood.' If enough funds come in, I'll take a few days to help in the rebuilding and recovery efforts in Houston after the conference. I'm looking into opportunities to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity or Galviston Bay Foundation . Any other ideas or suggestions?
It will only take a few hours by bus from San Antonio (cost as little as $7 each way), but I will need meals and lodging for each day I spend in the Houston area (so up to $700 per day - demand at hotels is high with so many displaced people, and I'm not sure how difficult it will be to get AirBnB or other lodging). If I get $2000 or more by September 25th, I will add some volunteering days to my trip.
So, can you give me a hand-up, help me market my book and build toward a career, and maybe even help with hurricane recovery, by sending me to Texas? I need sufficient funds by September 25th to book my trip.

Thanks for your support!
