Concepta's Adopt-A-Family Xmas Fund

Donation protected

Upon hearing about the Baby DJ program from XL 106.7 FM, it was a no-brainer for us at Concepta to give back during this joyful time of the year and bring hope into people's lives.

Reading dozens of letters from people in need, we were touched by everyone's stories. However, there was one individual in particular who we were moved by the most.

She is a single mother of four children (ages 3, 4, 7, and 14) who have had tragic losses in her family and an endless stream of bad luck.

Occupation: Cleans bathrooms, babysits, drives people around in their cars, and anything else she can find to keep her family afloat

About her family: She has a special needs son with muscular dystrophy and autism, a daughter with diabetes, a mother with stage 4 colon cancer, a father who passed away last year from lung cancer, a grandmother who had dementia and died in her arms this past year as well, and no real father figure for her kids.

About her situation: She has had to skip birthdays for herself and two of her children, her father's ashes are still in a plastic bag tucked in a box and was never able to give him a proper funeral, she has had to move in with family who only allowed her two weeks worth of clothing and has since then been kicked out, her children now only own one toy each,  she doesn't even have enough to call it living paycheck-to-paycheck and the apartment that she just got in October may be something she can no longer afford, and to top it all off...the kids' father continues to take her to court to gain custody knowing that she cannot afford a lawyer and have reliable means of transportation.

And to put it in her own words: "I am squeezing my dollar so hard I made George Washington cry."

With so many unfortunate events happening in her life in the past two years, she still seems to be grateful of her situation and tries to make the best of it with a smile, even through her tears.

In her letter she writes, "This opportunity to just talk about it all and realize how much I have and have had going on finally allowed me to deal with some of the hurt and let some of it go. All I want is to give my kids some kind of Christmas this year."

We are asking for your help to provide her and her family a holiday memory that they can cherish for a lifetime.

Our goal is to reach $25,000 by December 23, 2016 to give this family:

1. Bus passes to get to doctor appointments
2. Groceries to feed the family
3. Clothes and shoes...the kids are outgrowing what they have
4. An urn and a memorial service for her father
5. A helper cart to carry shopping bags on and off the bus
6. Bathroom sets (towels, washcloths, bathmats, toothbrush holder, soap, plunger, etc)
7. Kitchen utensil set (measuring cups, slotted spoons, spatula, whisk, pizza cutter, etc)
8. A certified teacher to do annual homeschool evaluations
9. Driver's license renewal
10. If we can get to our goal...a car so she no longer needs to miss another family emergency

We are a small, local software development company in Orlando who strongly believe in our community. Our team of web and mobile app developers are committed to making a difference and hope you can too. Thank you for all you can do to help.

All donations will go directly to this family.

Sincerely,
