Keep Brazil School of Music Open
Music is changing lives for children and their families in Goiânia, Brazil. Even if you can't speak their language, the gift of music is understood by children everywhere. Your gift will change their lives!
My name is Luisa, but my friends call me Peti Lui. I live in Washington State now but my heart still lives in Brazil, which I called home for many years. A simple voice lesson led me to volunteer and meet some amazing kids in LEAM. LEAM is a community music school that is transforming youth and families through music education.
The school aims to develop the practice of youth leadership, citizenship and empowerment, utilizing the teaching of music disciplines and strengthening youth to become ethical leaders, committed to improving human and community relations. The project conducts music education courses for children, adolescents, seniors, and families. In general the audience is made up of vulnerable people, families living in poverty or children who are susceptible to participating in violence and drugs. LEAM helps children and families learn teamwork, discipline, mathematics, harmony, respect, a sense of responsibility and gives them a chance to develop their creativity.
Thanks to 80 hours of professional courses, young people sponsored by crowd-funding and donors (LIKE YOU!) can be introduced, after receiving our legal certificate, into the labor market. Your donations will cover the expenses of new teachers, the monthly course payment for students, instrument maintenance and office expenses. By reaching the goal of $5000 we will be able to keep the doors open for one more academic year and provide several scholarships for vulnerable students. We invite our supporters to visit our school and have online meetings with our students and teachers and thus evaluate the transparency of the program.
Thank you for checking out this awesome program and supporting our Brazil family :)
