Cloyd Edralin's Legal Fund

$16,755 of $20,000 goal

Raised by 215 people in 11 months
Created June 11, 2018
My brother, Cloyd Edralin- a permanent resident since 1988 (green-card holder), was taken in by ICE while on his way to work on 06/04/18 at 6am. They were waiting outside for him to step off the property so they could verify his name and take him away from his family.

Cloyd is currently in detention awaiting deportation proceedings for a conviction, that he already paid for (with fines and probation) back in 2007. Federal statute of limitations is five years but apparently ICE can make their own rules. Cloyd had renewed his Green Card with USCIS over 3 years ago with No issues. He never received a Notice to Appear regarding this issue with USCIS (or any other agency).

Cloyd currently does not have a court date on the Master Calendar so he just sits in the Detention Center, waiting.

The money raised will assist with legal expenses and help the family pay for necessities due to Cloyd’s lost income.

Our family plan to re-donate the excess money raised to an organization to support other immigrant families in similar situations.

Morning All,
Today, is a great day. Today, Cloyd is home!
Sry for the delay on the info but yesterday at Cloyd's Merit Hearing he was granted his Cancellation of Removal. The judge even ask, why are we even here [for this ridiculous case] as he was thumbing thru the reams of paperwork. (That was around 3pm). Also, after hearing Cloyd testify the judge did not need to hear from any family members. Case Dropped.
We picked Cloyd up at 8pm, Sept 20th, 2018.
He came home to homemade food by his mother, Cynthia (amazing chef, ps). We laughed cried and just hung out Outside for a few hours. Not sure I've ever seen anyone enjoy NJ air as much as Cloyd did last night. Aimless walking around his yard with Brandi and kids near by just bc he can. Telling us more stories of how he made pillows out of his orange jump suite pants & hiding extra blankets by making his bed so tight.
Could not be more grateful for every single one of you amazing folks. Without you All we would not be in this spot today. All of the Edralin's - Chariza, Brandi, Matt, Claudia, Nicole, Michelle & Cynthia - and myself are all eternally grateful.
Our next step is applying for Cloyds citizenship ASAP with the help of our amazing lawyers!
Justice serviced.
Case dropped.
So #thankful.

Hi All,
At the start of this new week we find ourselves days away from the next hearing that will decide Cloyd's future as well as ours.
The Merit Hearing is where Chariza, Brandi and Claudia will present arguments on Cloyd's behalf that he needs to and must stay home, here, in NJ with his family, to an immigration judge. To cover all basis we have also file a petition of Asylum. Hopefully we won't need to bother that, but better safe than sorry.
The judge was change once & the date was recently change from the 19th to the 20th - this Thursday. Merit hearings can take hours or days. It is similar to a "regular" trial.
Please send all the of your prayers, thoughts, well wish, best of luck etc Cloyd's way and to the other detainees and family who are also in maddening situation.
I can't speak for the rest of the family but I would gather everyone is nervous & staying as hopeful as possible. Everyone is pretty busy with school and work so hopefully not focusing too much on a negative outcome. It's the down time that can getcha. The mind wonders to the the what ifs. But there Are good and great what ifs to wonder about to! Chariza and I are staying as mindful as possible but it's not always that easy. Thankfully we have a great support system of family and friends. So very thankful for them and all of you who have also helped so very much.
So Thursday it is. Do check in on the family if you have a moment.
Thanks for reading. <3

At Cloyd's hearing on Wednesay (August 22nd) we all left a bit more relieved than the last hearing a month or so ago. This judge was live in the courtroom - last time the judge was telecasted in from Puerto Rico; this judge she was kind, treated Cloyd like a human and even acknowledged we were there to support him. Judge even thank us for coming to the hearing.
So, this hearing was to present reams of paper work for Cancelation of Removal, petition for asylum & to get a date for the merit hearing where a judge will hear testimonies on Cloyd's behalf / character witness (set for 9/19/18).

The Merits Hearing, on September 19th, a judge will hear individuals present arguments for Cloyd necessity for staying in the country. Merits hearings can take hours or days...

Cloyd & the fam are excited to hear how soon the hearing will be. In early discussions with the lawyers we were looking at October for the merit hearing. But then again its nerve wrecking as hell. Sooner is soon for a great & or not so great outcome.
From what I (Jodie) understand is the judge will make his decision either right then after everything has been filed, everyone has testified OR we get another date to hear the judge's decision. And then another date to follow through with what the judge has decided.
All in all it's great that things are moving along smoothly and relatively quickly.

On that note, we decided to put together a benefit.

August 28th, Asbury Park, Parlor Gallery @ 6pm.

And with Chariza & Angie Surgim's leg work & network of amazing people it's coming to fruition. So much support & love from all over NJ and beyond. Friends, locals & perfect strangers have donated Space, time, equipment, talent, food, items to raffle, original art, money and above all Support to help put this benefit together. An idea to have a benefit is one thing, help with the actual happenings is a whole other ballgame. So if you're around next Tuesday evening, please swing by the Parlor Gallery and say hi. We'd all be happy to hang with you for a bit.

The Benefit is on August 28th from 6-10p at the Parlor Gallery in Asbury Park (717 Cookman Ave).
Food, live music, raffle, beverages, DJ, speaker, meet the fam and have a fun evening of support & love.

Below is a story that was recently published about everything so far. Chariza & Brandi were interviewed for the article.

thanks always, for you're time & support.
